The 51st Grammy Awards ceremony was held at Los Angeles' Staples Center for the sixth consecutive year and proved to be a glittering night of success for the girls.
U2 can strut all they like, and flash their socially-conscious lyrics up big on the screens - but they continue to be boring shadows of their former glory. Bono's voice has gone and there is definitely no 'edge' to the music. A shame but just another example of why most guys don't appeal any more.
All the glitz and glamour of Hollywood was brought on stage when Katy Perry bounced and twirled in a fabulous fruit cocktail of a dress, dancing and singing I Kissed A Girl with energy and humor. A welcome relief from the one-note copycats Coldplay and the wind-up toys Jonas.
Not forgetting we are in America, the huge voice of Jennifer Nettles of Sugarland was as clear and crisp as the mountain air.
Overall a spectacular night for the girls and women, leading the music industry from the front with creativity, freshness and strength all the way.
